Access ramp fabricated and installed for JDR cables

DR Cables are currently developing a new manufacturing facility in Northumberland and we were asked to provide the main access ramp into the new office block.

We were given a specification for how the ramp needed to look and the materials that had to be used. Once the design was agreed, we fabricated all of the steelwork in our workshop.

Before anything left the factory, we assembled the complete ramp in house to make sure everything fitted together correctly. This allowed us to pick up any issues before delivery and helped the installation run smoothly on site.

Once fabrication was complete, the ramp was dismantled and sent away for E coating. This process involves dipping the steel components into an electrically charged paint solution which gives an even protective coating across the entire structure.

The coated sections were then delivered to site and assembled using a HIAB crane. The finished ramp incorporates 28mm solid top GRP flooring, providing a durable walking surface for day to day use.

The ramp now serves as the main entrance into the office block and forms part of the wider development at the new JDR Cables facility.
